Privacy Policy

Impact Seminars is an education and seminar platform based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we need it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

• Account details: your name, email, phone number, and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google instead.
• Your activity: the programs you join, lessons you watch, events you register for, and posts or messages you send.
• Payments: what you bought, the amount, the payment method, and whether it succeeded. Card details go directly to Stripe - we never see or store them.
• Event recordings: photos and video taken at events you attend.
• Consent records: when you accepted the Terms and this policy, and the cookie choice you made.
• Technical information: your IP address and basic device or browser details, used to run the site and keep it secure.

We use your information to:

• create and protect your account;
• give you access to the programs, events, and communities you signed up for;
• process payments and send receipts;
• send necessary emails, such as verification links, tickets, and security notices;
• answer your questions and keep the site safe; and
• send updates or marketing, but only if you have opted in.

We follow Ethiopian data protection law, including the Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024. We only use your information where we have a lawful reason: to provide the service you asked for, because you agreed, or to keep the site secure.

We use a necessary cookie to keep you signed in and another to remember your cookie choice. These are needed for the site to work.

If you accept, we also store small preferences in your browser, such as light or dark mode. This is optional and off by default. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. YouTube may set its own cookies when you play a video; those belong to YouTube.

You can change your choice at any time: Cookie preferences.

We never sell your information. We share only what is needed with the services that run the platform: Google for sign-in, Stripe for card payments, Cloudflare for media storage, and our email and hosting providers. We may also share information if the law requires it.

Other community members can see your name, profile photo, and anything you choose to post or comment.

We protect your information with secure connections, hashed passwords, optional two-factor authentication, and limited staff access. We keep account information while your account is active, and keep payment records for as long as Ethiopian tax law requires. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

No system is completely secure. If you think your account has been compromised, contact us straight away.

You can ask us to:

• show you what information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
• stop using your information for optional things, such as marketing; or
• withdraw a consent you gave earlier.

Email us from the address on your account and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Ethiopian data protection authority.

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If the change is important, we will also tell you by email or with a notice on the site.
